The "Global Register of Migratory Species" has compiled a first multilingual list of 4,344 migratory vertebrate species in digital format including their threat status according to the 2000 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and their protection status by other conventions, such as CITE

The purpose of the Map of Life is to document diverse examples of evolutionary convergence from throughout the living world, based on information from peer-reviewed journals and other scientific literature. Each example of convergence is connected by an array of links to other related topics, creating an extensively cross-referenced database. Moving around the pages of the site allows you to effectively explore the fascinating nature of convergent evolution and what it tells us about predictability in biological systems.

The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) began in 2007 with the bold idea to provide "a webpage for every species." Now, EOL brings together trusted information from resources across the world such as museums, learned societies, expert scientists, and others into one massive database and a single, easy-to-use online portal at EOL.org .

Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) species have few close relatives and are often extremely distinct in the way they look, live and behave. These unique species are also on the verge of extinction, and if they disappear there will be nothing like them left on the planet.

The Tree of Life Web Project (ToL) is a collaborative effort of biologists and nature enthusiasts from around the world. On more than 10,000 World Wide Web pages, the project provides information about biodiversity, the characteristics of different groups of organisms, and their evolutionary history (phylogeny). Each page contains information about a particular group, e.g., salamanders, segmented worms, phlox flowers, tyrannosaurs, euglenids, Heliconius butterflies, club fungi, or the vampire squid. ToL pages are linked one to another hierarchically, in the form of the evolutionary tree of life. Starting with the root of all Life on Earth and moving out along diverging branches to individual species, the structure of the ToL project thus illustrates the genetic connections between all living things.
